Producing nearly 2,000 pairs of lenses each day for clients including the VA hospital system and U.S. Navy NEXCOM centers, IFB Optical uses the manufacture of prescription eyeglasses to create high-value jobs for people who are blind or visually impaired.

Our employees, including many U.S. veterans, perform 75 percent of the direct labor. Guided by licensed, certified experts and aided by proprietary software, they create lenses—from single vision and freeform/digital progressive to custom solutions—with unmatched accuracy. Customer service representatives are involved in every aspect of the process, enabling efficient, value-added responses to questions and issues.

IFB Optical’s ISO- and Lean Six Sigma-certified facility is an Essilor® IDD Partner Lab, offering the full range of Transitions® and Varilux® lenses, and can turn around prescription glasses in 24 to 72 hours.

IFB Optical ships eyeglasses to homes, clinics, hospitals and customer retail spaces and distributes them through dispensaries in VA hospitals and community-based outpatient centers in Alabama, Florida, Georgia and South Carolina, as well as VA dispensaries with optical products in New York.

The IFB optical dispensary in Winston-Salem includes North Carolina-licensed and American Board of Opticianry-certified opticians who can fill outside prescriptions for contact lenses and eyeglasses. IFB Optical also operates an open-to-the-public National Contact Lens Examiners- certified public dispensary with a wide variety of lenses and style-driven frames for close-to-wholesale prices.
